how do you write out "the product of 11 and he expression y times 3"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y*3=11

OpenStudy (phi):

the product of a and b means a*b (a times b) the product of 11 and the expression y times 3 means y * (expression y times 3) expression y times 3 is just 3*y , usually written 3y (which means 3*y or y*3) so y*3y we usually write the numbers first. because it's multiplying we can change the order 3*y*y but we usually leave out the multiply sign, and we usually write y*y as y^2 so we get \[ 3y^2\]
