Can someone Help me with a Question?

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Here it is Question 9 (Essay Worth 10 points) Read the following poem and answer the question that follows. "Beat! Beat! Drums!" by Walt Whitman Beat! beat! drums!—blow! bugles! blow! Through the windows—through doors—burst like a ruthless force, Into the solemn church, and scatter the congregation, Into the school where the scholar is studying, Leave not the bridegroom quiet—no happiness must he have now with his bride, Nor the peaceful farmer any peace, ploughing his field or gathering his grain, So fierce you whirr and pound you drums—so shrill you bugles blow. In one paragraph of at least three to five sentences, analyze the tone and imagery used in the lines in bold. Identify the mood the author intended to create with this imagery, as well as the connotations used in the words "solemn," "quiet," and "peaceful." Use proper spelling and grammar.

OpenStudy (ericanoel912):

Haha I did this yesterday. I talked about how he used the first words to talk about celebration and the other words later on to express how horrified he was that the captain died.

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Is this the same poem? I think you're talking about another one...

OpenStudy (ericanoel912):

Sorry yes... O, Captain My Captain

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

haha I''m writing it now, once i'm done can you see it and tell me if it's good?

OpenStudy (ericanoel912):

sure

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Here it is... In the poem above, the mood is loud and solemn. He talks about how the drum's sound travels so far and loud. There is no place with peace when you hear the drums pounding as loud as it can. Not even the schools are safe when it comes to the loud pounding of the drums.

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Should I add more, take away some, explain something better?

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Here's the one of the O Captain! My Captain.

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

This poem has a mood of fear and sadness. The poem talks about how the captain died. How pale his lips are, he has no pulse in his blood nor a will. After a fearful trip, he walks in the deck his captain lies with his cold, pale, dead body.

OpenStudy (znappydooz):

Lol I'm gonna submit it... Thanks for the help! Have a good day ;)
