Oh this is just distributing and simplifying
\[\large -3(-4y + 3) + 7y\]
Distribute the -3 into the parenthesis first
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ohhh okay...\[(-4y + -6) + 7y\] So would that be right?

Not quite...Distribute means to multiply it into each term in the parenthesis
So distributing that -3 into those parenthesis will mean
\[\large -3 \times -4y\]
\[\large -3 \times 3\]
OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):
Leaving us with
\[\large 12y - 9 + 7y\]
Now what else can be simplified?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I feel dumb now. I know I knew this before. Now we combine the 12y and 7y... So we end up with 19y - 9?
OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):
Perfect! :)

Thank you :)
