i think

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You mean \((4x + 7)^2 = 60\) The 2 is an exponent?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

If so, then use this method: If \(x^2 = k\), then \(x = \pm \sqrt k\) In your case, Since \((4x + 7)^2 = 60\), then \(4x + 7 = \pm\sqrt{60}\) Separate this into two equations and solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First divide each side by 2. After that subtract 7 from both sides. After that you should be able to do it yourself pretty easily. if you meant (4x+7)^2=60 then that would be completely different.
