In cell biology a centriole is a cylindrical cell structure composed mainly of a protein called tubulin that is found in most eukaryotic cells.

the centriole is duplicated in interphase of mitosis so there will be 2, they are on each side of the pole of the cell. Microtubules are attached to these and help elongate the cell to make it bigger so when the cell separates it will be a normal size.
