I have been out of school for five years and I don't remember any of this can someone please help me it is algebra
\[x^{2}=6x+40\]
1st move all of your values to one side
So it looks like -x^2 + 6x + 40
How do I know when to just move things to one side?
When you're dealing with quadratics \[ax^2 + bx + c\]
And you want to solve the problem.
what is a quadatic
Its just a certain form of a function.
\[ax^2+bx+c\]
Just FYI...a quadratic is a second degree equation. x^2 means it's second degree.
Sometimes they're referenced as trinomials. Thanks @IMStuck
if you need info on a topic see Khan's videos. Here is one on solving a quadratic http://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/quadratics/quadratic_odds_ends/v/solving-a-quadratic-by-factoring
