Hey guys I just did math because it has the most members.... here is my question: Is lifting a ball off the ground work? (in technical terms)

OpenStudy (babalooo):

w=fd right. there's force when lifting and there's a displacement right so yeah, there's work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg thankyou so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can someone give a longer explanation please?

OpenStudy (babalooo):

work = force x displacement. work exist if f or d doesn't = 0 f is force and d is displacement. if no force is acted upon the ball, f would = 0 f=ma so if either m or a =0 then f would =0 . For displacement. basically, if the ball moves anywhere from it's original spot, there's displacement. if it moves away but return to it's original spot. there's no displacement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now im defiantly saying thankyou.
