Please help!!! Find the tangent ratio of angle Θ. Hint: Use the slash symbol ( / ) to represent the fraction bar, and enter the fraction with no spaces.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

largely depends on the angle \(\theta\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\tan(\theta)=\frac{\text{opposite }}{\text{adjacent}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me know what you get, don't think too hard

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get it ):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? better call on wiz one through six! what is the length of the side of the right triangle opposite the angle \(\theta\) ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just read it off of the picture |dw:1409711262328:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha, youre still with that joke? what ah loser :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey at least i remember, plus, i know what an opposite side is!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

op : 15 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

adjacent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hint, it is not the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

was that sarcastic? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well not really it occurred to me that both 8 and 17 are technically adjacent to the angle, but you want the leg, not the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and therefore \[\tan(\theta)=\frac{15}{8}\] done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i hope \[\tan(\theta)=\frac{\text{opposite }}{\text{adjacent}}\]makes more sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer will remain a fraction? I mean it makes sense, I just thought there was more to it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no that is all i guess you could use a calculator to get a decimal, but the question says us / as a fraction bar, so they don't want a decimal, they want 15/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Youre great (:
