A pyramid has a square base that is 160 m on each side. What is the perimeter of the base in kilometers? A. 0.0256 km B. 0.00064 km C. 0.64 km D. 3.2 km

OpenStudy (bibby):

What is the perimeter of the base in meters?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

160m

OpenStudy (bibby):

|dw:1409852877225:dw| the perimeter is all of the sides added up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how does one convert it to kilometers though?

OpenStudy (bibby):

there are 1000meters to a kilometer right? we use dimensional analysis and "cancel" the units \(\large 160\cancel{m}*\frac{1km}{1000\cancel{m}}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is it D.? Please excuse my stupidity...

OpenStudy (bibby):

lol no problem. I'm not going to give the answer tho. step 1. find the perimeter of a square where one side = 160m step 2. convert perimeter to km

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay, that would be 0.16 Kilometers?

OpenStudy (bibby):

|dw:1409853421537:dw| 160m=0.16km but what does that mean? We want the perimeter which is the addition of all 4 sides, not just one side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the perimeter would .64! right?

OpenStudy (bibby):

0.16+0.16+0.16+0.16 OR 0.16*4=0.64km nice nice nice

YASSSS! Thanks a million!
