Which pattern describes the levels of biodiversity across the fossil record? decreased continuously following the appearance of the first species decreased and then increased after major waves of mass extinctions increased continuously following the appearance of the first species decreased after each major wave of mass extinctions and remained low remained relatively constant over time

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Any guess with this? ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummmmmmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just know that it is not A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what do you think? :)

OpenStudy (petiteme):

I'd guess it decreased and then increased after major waves of mass extinction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why?

OpenStudy (petiteme):

I've been reading this: http://complex.upf.es/~ricard/EGECfinal.pdf

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Or increased continuously following the appearance of the first species. Found this on that PDF ^_^ "we have a substantial fossil record of life's development, which shows a number of clear patterns, including a steady increase in biodiversity towards the present punctuated by a number of large extinction events that wiped out a significant fraction of the species on the planet, and in some cases, caused major reorganizations amongst the dominant groups of organisms in the ecosphere."

i think the ans is B . friends.

OpenStudy (petiteme):
