The probability that there is a quiz today is .62. The probability that a student leaves a calculator in the classroom given that there is a quiz today is .34. The probability that a student does not leave a calculator behind given that there is no quiz today is .94. What is the probability that a student leaves a calculator in class? So far I know that I would set it up like P(H given C) Also like what is the Bayes's Rule used for? Is it for in this type of situations?

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@Hero @satellite73 @zepdrix do you guys think you can help with this probability problem?

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@kohai ??? :)

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

yay! :) @kohai

OpenStudy (kohai):

Ehhhh probability is not my strong point, I'm actually terrible with it and I'm not really comfortable trying to help

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

oh okay

OpenStudy (kohai):

I'm really sorry :(

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@kohai it's okay! @satellite73 plzzzz... do you think you can help? :) It's probability.

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@xapproachesinfinity do you think you can try :)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

let me see!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am sure we can do this takes a minute to think

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

Yes! we can^_^

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

yess! thank you! :)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

let's think about it this way! i always prefer it like this set A event that he leaves a calculator B event that there is a quiz alright

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

I say we should use bayes's rule...

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

well see about that!

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

will*

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

Now we are concerned about P(A/B), yes?

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

yes..I think

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

meaning probability of A happening given that B happened recall that B is event that there is a quiz

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

ahh.. I see
