@abb0t

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

http://shpenkov.janmax.com/hybridizationshpenkov.pdf was this paper before the linear combination of atomic orbitals that we learn in chem now? the paper was in 2006

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You've done SALC's in your general chemistry course?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

my professor just showed but I didnt really learn doing it

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

if I do not see it in syllabus, sometimes I do not bother studying it lol waste of brain energy that doesnt help with the exams

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, what about it? They're ilnear combinations of the basis sets composed of the stretching vectors of like a molecule.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

This is heavy chemistry. I don't think you need to know this for your program. I only know the basics - this is moreso physical/ inorganic chemistry stuff.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

TRUE haha I do not, but now that I have a lot of time in my hands, I was just reading more into molecular orbital and maybe try to understand it beyond what was covered in my undergrad

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Read this book: http://www.amazon.com/Inorganic-Chemistry-Edition-Gary-Miessler/dp/0136128661 I think there should be a free PDF version roaming around online still. If you can't find it, let me know. I think I still have it stored somewhere in my files.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I was actually reading some of the papers used in orgo and this one http://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Structure-Bonding-Roger-Dekock/dp/093570261X/ref=pd_cp_b_1

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

thanks
