How do you change 53.625 degrees to minutes and seconds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's this about?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

clock problems in geometry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that is is 53 minutes and 225 seconds (am I right?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't think so because 225 seconds is like 3.75 minutes, so wouldn't that change the number of minutes given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, sorry. bad done it though let me say that in another words. first the whole units of degrees will remain the same. so we have 53 degrees. then we multiply the decimal (0.625) by 60, the whole number becomes the minutes (so let's say that we have 0.625 * 60 = 37.5 minutes). so far we have got 53 degrees and 37 minutes. at the end we multiply the decimal (0.5) by 60, the whole expression becomes the seconds. so we get 0.5*60 = 30 seconds. The whole result will be 53 degrees 37' 30".

grasped?

ohhh that makes a lot of sense actually thank youuu
