whats the equation of a line parallel to y=3x-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there any other information given????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o it just says parallell lines for the first section and the second section says perpendicular lines

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I just answered this question in your other post.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

may be there is a coordinate of a point given.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The way the problem is worded, you can pick any parallel line you want.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Parallel lines have the same slope. The slope-intercept form of the equation of a line is: y=mx+b where m = slope and b = y-intercept. Your line is already written in the slope-intercept form. The slope of your line is 3, and the y-intercept is -12. A parallel line has the same slope and a different y-intercept. To write the equation of a parallel line, just write an equation in the same form in which you keep the same slope and come up with a different y-intercept.

okay thanks

You're welcome.
