Please help! I dont understand this.. Look at the following numbers: −2, −1, 0, 1 Which pair of numbers has a sum of zero? 1, −1 −2, 0 −2, 1 −1, 0

The first one :) because a negative and a positive cancel each other out. Hope I helped! I'll explain in greater detail if you want.

Well, a negative number is just a number below 0. So negative -6 is just 6 below 0. The way I think of it is like debt with a bank. In your question, you are trying to "Pay off your debt" so to speak and get to 0. So all I had to do was find a positive number that was equal to and would cancel out the negative number. Make sense? Another example would be if you were trying to get to get a positive and negative number to add up to 6. If you had a negative -7. All you need to do is add a positive 7 to cancel it out and bring you to zero. Then add 6! Hope I helped you out and explained it in a way that makes sense :)
