Need help if f(x)=3x-2 and g(x)=x^2-4x+1,find (f+g)(x) Please tell me the steps to getting the answer

OpenStudy (abb0t):

\(\sf 3x-2 \color{red}{ + } x^2-4x+1\)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Combine like terms and you will get your answer.

So i combined like terms 8x^2-2+1 I don't think I'm doing this right...ridiculous and this is incredibly easily and I can hardly figure it out anymore

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I don't understand how you got \(\sf 8x^2\) because there is nothing to combine with. Try again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I combined (3x) and (x^2) and (4x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont understand what im doing wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me know if you need me to explain the picture i attached...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@alana.bc16 yeah I don't really understand how you got that
