Find the exact value of sin^2 30 + cos^2 60 using identities and/or the complementary angle theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the answer is 1/2 but I am not sure how you get to that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing 30 and 60 are in degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin(30 degrees) = .5 so sin^2(30 degrees) = .5^2 = .25 cos(60 degrees) = 0.5 cos^2(60 degrees) = .25 so ,25 + .25 = .5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah they are in degrees sorry!
