OpenStudy (candy13106):

8(m-5)=2(3m-8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets do this one different

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[8(m-5)=2(3m-8)\] divide by \(2\) and get \[4(m-5)=3m-8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 (m-5) = 2(3m-8) You distribute the 8 and the 2. 8m - 40 = 6m - 16 Now you combine like terms. 2m = -24 Now you divide by 2. m = -12

OpenStudy (candy13106):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not \(-12\) i don't think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[4(m-5)=3m-8\] multiply \[4m-20=3m-8\] subtract \(3m\)\[m-20=-8\] add \(20\) \[m=12\]

Satellite73 is right, I messed up when I added a random negative sign. :)
