I need help please

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

The length of a rectangular field is 10m greater than 3 times the width. A roll of fencing that is 180m long and 1m high will enclose the field with no fencing left over. What are the dimensions of the field?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

I tried multiple times, but I couldn't find it

Show your stuff, please.

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

equation: 3x+10+x=180m, I'm a bit confused with the roll of fence ?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

Could you explain how to do this by steps? I don't want the answer, just the explanation

OpenStudy (loser66):

NO!!

OpenStudy (loser66):

10 m greater than (3 times the width ) means (3 times the width ) + 10 = the length, right? then 2(L +W) = 180 ,not L+W = 180

OpenStudy (loser66):

you miss *2

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

oh i see, i just got confused on 180m and 1m high and the 2l+2w

OpenStudy (loser66):

ok now, right? :)

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

wait so this was my formula 2(3x+10+x)=180

OpenStudy (loser66):

yes

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

then x=20... but if I plug in 20 for length 3x+10

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

and thus 70 is length and 20 is width

OpenStudy (loser66):
