-2x+5y=12 for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so can you put all term(s) with y variable on one side and the rest on the other?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=12+2y/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually, you do:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2x+5y=12 5y=12+2x y=(12+2x)/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is because you divide both sides by 5, so you need to divide the whole left side by 5, not just one term

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was wondering how to show that. It is different than how I wrote it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you do it? and you're welcome :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just put everything over 5 in the final answer so 5 was on the bottom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
