I have a simple proof question I can not figure out. Prove: If a/b < c/d, then a/b < (a+c)/(b+d) < c/d not sure where to start. :s thanks for any help

I don't think this is a true statement. if a = 0, b = 1, c= 1, and d = 2, then the statement is false.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pretty sure it would be true with those numbers: 0/1 < (0+1) / (1+2) < 1/2 0 < 1/3 < 1/2 which is true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, you are right. My apologies. For some reason in my head I was thinking of b as 0.

No problem. Do you know how to prove it is true?
