Simplify: 4x^3 – 3x^2 + x + 3x^3

OpenStudy (opcode):

Combine the like terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the x's .. ?

OpenStudy (opcode):

$$ 4x^3 – 3x^2 + x + 3x^3 $$ There are two terms that a like terms so you can combine them. They belong to \(x^3\). Rewrite the equation so it look easier to combine: $$ 4x^3 + 3x^3 – 3x^2 + x \implies 7x^3 – 3x^2 + x$$ So that is as much as you can simplify it, do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think i understand.. so it's 7*x^3-(3*x^2)+x ?

OpenStudy (opcode):

The round brackets are unneeded.

Okay thank you ! :)
