Help with some Geometry, please? Thanks! (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧*:・゚✧

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the question

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

It's from my textbook, I don't really get it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need the picture with the other angles too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says using the protractor on efg you find its 90 in the box, but an obtuse angle in the diagram

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it wants you to do the same thing with the other angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like is aef acute obtuse or right in the box? how about in the diagram?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Ohhhhhh.... lemme take a pic of the other one too

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Perhaps you were drunk and measured the angle wrong? ;P

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

There's the other diagram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youre going to have to measure it yourself :P i cant really use a protractor on my computer screen

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I don't have a protractor tho v.v

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

@iambatman can you help?? ^.^

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

@e.mccormick @Compassionate

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, first off.... if it is a box, what are all the angles?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Erm.. 90 degrees??

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yep. So all the corners are 90 deg in "real life." So the "In the box" part is 90 for everything.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Now the picture is an isometric diagram. This means they used different directions on a picture to represent 3d in 2d.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

So, you have a protractor to measure it with?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Nope D:

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Hmmm... you might be able to ptint one or use one electronically.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

hrm.. is it really needed though?? :o

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

No, not for just acute obtuse or right. You can eyeball that.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

My teacher doesn't actually teach anything, he just tells us what our assignment is & tells us to get it done. He doesn't actually grade any of these by if we get them right, he grades depending on if we did the problem.. but our tests are actually graded by if we got the problem right or not, which is why I wanna learn how to do the stuff.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Obtuse means > 90 Acute means < 90

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

^ I knew that

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Tbh, they all look acute to me. XD

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, what about ABC?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yeah, that looks reeeeeally obtuse. XD

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Kk. Now, let me show you something. ABF, 90, right?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yeah, I think so

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

OK, what happens if you extend AB past B to some point X. What is XBF?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Obtuse?? I dunno XD

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Nope. It is a simple concept, but you may need to visualize.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Understand what they means and why it works?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Ohhhhhhhh.. that'd be a straight angle.. but what does it have to do with the chart?? XD

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, it means that FBX, with X out that line, is also 90 deg. So if that is 90, then is FBC more or less than 90?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

It is less?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

It does not really matter what X is there. It is something more than 0. So 90 + anything is?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Oh, obtuse!!

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Hehe. So, that help with how to visualize these?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yes, though I'm still a bit confused. XD

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, that one they asked about is obtuse, so not all acute. Now, what part is still confusing?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

|dw:1410748644881:dw| All the ones on the face are gonna be 90.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

|dw:1410748677806:dw| All these others are NOT 90 on paper because of how an isomorphic drawing works.
