Two angles are complementary. One angle is 4 degrees less than three times the other angle. Find the measure of each angle.

If two angles are complementary, then the sum of the two angles equals 90 degrees. So angle A + angle B = 90 degrees You are given that one angle is 4 degrees less than three times the other angle. If we let angle B be that angle, then angle B = 3* angle A -4 degrees Substitution into the equation we have this: Angle A + 3*Angle A -4 degrees = 90 degrees 4*Angle A = 90 degrees + 4 degrees 4*Angle A = 94 degrees Angle A = 94 degrees/4 Angle A = 23.5 degrees So Angle B = 90 degrees - 23.5 degrees Angle B = 66.5 degrees
