MEDAL AND FAV! Im having problems seeing a trigometric ratio! The figure shows a right triangle: A right triangle is shown with hypotenuse equal to q units and the length of the legs equal to p units and r units. The angle between the legs having lengths p units and q units is y degrees. The angle between the legs having lengths r units and q units is x degrees. What is r ÷ q equal to? sin x° cos y° cos x° tan y°

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

by definition cosine = adjacent/hypotenuse cos(x) = adjacent/hypotenuse ... notice how angle x is adjacent to r cos(x) = r/q also, sine = opposite/hypotenuse sin(y) = opposite/hypotenuse ... notice how angle y is opposite side r sin(y) = r/q

so it would be C correct?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct
