OpenStudy (sushiiesss):

Ribosomes are made in the nucleolus. What happens once the ribosome passes into the cytoplasm? A. They pass through the nuclear envelope B. They may attach to areas of Endoplasmic reticulum C. They copy DNA D. They sort and distribute proteins to cell organelles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

confusing but I guess D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or might be it's C. sorry because I m not confirm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

may @Jmmm answer u better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B. They may attach to areas of endoplasmic reticulum. A. They pass through the nuclear envelope. No. If ribosomes are in the cytoplasm, then they've already passed through the nuclear envelope. B. They may attach to areas of endoplasmic reticulum. True. Some ribosomes, after they start synthesizing a polypeptide, bind a SRP (signal recognition particle) that allows them to bind to rough ER, where synthesis then picks up again (and the growing polypeptide is inserted through a membrane protein into the lumen of the RER). C. They copy DNA. No. Ribosomes don't copy DNA, whether they are inside or outside of the nucleus. D. They sort and distribute proteins to cell organelles. No. Ribosomes are the sites where polypeptides ("proteins") are synthesized.
