Your spaceship lands on a planet that has a gravitational force whose magnitude is 1/5th of Earth’s gravitational force. If you weigh 800 N on Earth, what do you weigh on the new planet? (assume g=10 m/s2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Remember Newton's Second Law:\[F=ma\]If the mass doesn't change, what happens to the force on that object if you reduce the acceleration of gravity by a factor of 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You reduce the total force? so wouldn't to multiply the 800N by 1/5 and the force on the planet would be 160N?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup, that's it.
