(-4/4,-6/4) as scale factor here is 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldnt it just be one coordinate pair instead of two?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://regentsprep.org/regents/math/geometry/gt3/Ldilate2.htm So, multiply both coordinates of L by the scale factor (4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-24,16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Point L appears to be at (x,y) = (-4, -6) Order is important, x is always first. And, watch your signs. Try again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so multiply it by 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. Multiply each coordinate by 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4 x 4= -16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6 x 4 = -24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, so the new coordinate is (-16, -24)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats the answer of the problem or is there another step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the answer. You were close above, but missed the sign on the 16, and reversed the order.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, okay thank you!!
