First you need to get rid of the parenthesis

done
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And you now have?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3-2x-5< -4x-8
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Also, that 5 should be positive. Two negatives make a positive

Lets forget about X for a moment. Add your like terms on the left side, then move the -8 from the right side to the left
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm confused. How would it look like if you moved the -8 from the right to the left?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It should look like this before you move it :
\[8-2x <-4x-8 \]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And this after:
\[16-2x <-4x\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-2x and -4x are like terms, so I can only take -2x from -4x, right?

and then divide 16 by -2, and since they are both negatives the sign has to flip!

I get it now, thanks :)

You're welcome. Your answer should be -8 :)
