A committee of 3 people is to be randomly selected from a group of 5 women and 8 men. What is the probability that the committee will only consist of women?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/13

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The probability of selecting a woman on the first selection is 5/13. The probability of selecting a woman on the second selection is 4/12. The probability of selecting a woman on the third selection is 3/11. Therefore the probability that the committee will only consist of women is given by: \[\large P(3\ women)=\frac{5\times4\times3}{13\times12\times11}=you\ can\ calculate\]

@sumanta The method used in my post is based on sampling without replacement. I suggest that you study 'sampling without replacement'.
