jeremy and fran want to compare 5/8 to 9/12. jeremy writes equivalent fractions with denominator of 96. fran writes equivalent fractions with denominator of 24. which method would you prefer? EXPLAIN.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

I would prefer 24, since it's the same common denominator as 96, except it's smaller in value. Thus making it easier to multiply. So, I would agree with Jeremy.

My bad. Francisco* Good job for noticing~

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you sure your going with Jeremy ?? @GoldPhenoix

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

No, I misread the text. I meant to say Fran. Besides, that's an opinion question. So there's no right or wrong answer. In other words, do you agree on what I said or disagree? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i agree (; but i don't know what to writ & put in a sentence

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Mmm, write something like this (or exactly if you want to): " I would prefer Fran's method because the number 24 is a common denominator of 8 and 12. Yes, 96 is also a common denominator of 8 and 12, but the number is large. Which makes multiplying slightly harder. For the number 24, I just have to multiply 8 by 3 and 12 by 2. This is why I prefer Fran's method over Jeremy"
