help please. stress and strain problem.
A tensile test specimen that has a gage length of 50 mm and an area = 200mm^2. During the test the specimen yields under a load of 98,000N. the corresponding gage length=50.23mm. This is the 0.2percent yield point. The maximum load of 168,000N is reached at a gage length=64.2mm
determine, a) yield strength b) modulus of elasticity c) tensile strength d) if fracture occurs at a gage length of 67.3mm what is the percent elongation? e) if the specimen necked to an area=92mm^2 what is the percent reduction in area?
i think i can get the last two on my own. it's the first three that i need help with. any and all help is appreciated.
number 1 i guess is 490 MPa
can you describe what you did in detail?
@Pompeii00 i call upon thee!
Idk if this is engineering-based, but that isn't a field of study I've dealt with. Sorry mate. I'll take a look at it though and see if I can make sense of anything.
yeah it's engineering based. i'm stuck on it. sorry.
@amistre64 can you help me? the test is over and i missed this one but i want to understand it. the teacher hasn't posted the answer sheet yet either so i don't know the final numbers.
