What's up?

In the diagram below, AE = 12, EB = 6, and CE = 4. Find DE.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both of them should equal the same i thought

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My choices are 12 6 19 18

@skullpatrol

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Sorry about the wait. The sum of AE and EB should be the same as the sum of CE and DE

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

That would make line AB = 18, so you need to subtract the value of CE from line CD, to get what's left for DE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But its not one of my choices

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Hmm..well now im looking at the numbers and it doesn't really make sense that EB is 'longer' than CE...did you make sure the values were right?

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

I seriously don't know. Sorry :(
