What's x^2+x?

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Factor out the x, and the answer will be a little more obvious.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

If you are facotring, then.... x(x+1)

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

After you factor out the x, then set each of the x's to zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not learning this actually my friend is but I'll give this a shot ^-^ So 2x+1? @JonnyVonny @StudyGurl14

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

I don't understand what you are looking for here...

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

No. So, you set x to zero and (x+1) to zero, and solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I'm looking for what x squared plus 2 is

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

nvm i'm leaving cause i'm confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2+ x 0^2+ 0 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks for trying to help @StudyGurl14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops forgot to tag cx @JonnyVonny

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Mmk, so, yes, that is one solution; at x=0, the y=0. Now, you set x+1 = 0 x+1 = 0 x= -1

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

So, at those x values, x=-1, and x=0, the y values are both zero.

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Meaning, the graph will have 2 x-intercepts, which helps in graphing it

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

If it is x^2 + x = 0, and not just x^2 + x, then x = 0, -1 what @JonnyVonny is saying. that's why i was confused, since there is no = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh~~Thank you guys so much! Total life savers! <3 @JonnyVonny @StudyGurl14
