Which equation could be used to find two consecutive even integers whose sum is 26? n + (n + 1) = 26 n + (n + 2) = 26 n − (n + 1) = 26 n + n = 26

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No not really

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Do you know what an even number is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah 2,4,6 and etc

OpenStudy (phi):

and consecutive means one right after the other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (phi):

if you give a "name" to an even number and call it "n" any idea what the next even number is ? (in other words it is n plus what ?)

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@phi I don't think this is a fair question

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, but there are much worse. At this stage, just getting the idea that n and n+2 can represent the unknowns would be a break-through.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its B

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

yes

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

If you assume n is even.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank yoy both
