http://highered.mheducation.com/sites/0809222329/student_view0/ged_practice_test.html Question 3. What is it asking? I don't even get it. Not slightly. How do I even read the grid? @myininaya
Just calculate the hourly wage. It's kind of stupid how they gave a grid as such, they could've just mentioned the numbers regularly, but they had to make it fancy, haha, so like the first option is saying $12.55 basically, does that make sense?
Oh, I see. Why would they even do it like that? It really threw me off.
I have no idea why they would do that.
So if it's asking for the hourly wage, and we know she worked 3 40 hour weeks, it's just Gross income/hours 1506/120 = 12.55 A.
Yup
The grid is what threw me off.
Haha, no worries, I can see where the confusion can occur, even looking at option D, it's kind of ridiculous how they have it like that.
A cookie recipe calls for 3/4 stick of butter. Valerie has enough of the other ingredients to make 6 batches of cookies. If she has 3 sticks of butter, how many batches of the recipe can she make? (Choose the answer, marked correctly, from one of the grids below.) Here is how I did it. 3/4 = .75 So if we have 3 sticks that's .75, .75, 7.5, and that leaves .75 left over that we can use. So we can have a total of 4 batches. That's just from basic intuition. Is there a more mathematical way to represent this?
That's fine, you're absolutely right!
I know I am right. I am awesome.
