Which of these is an example of a metaphor? She is a rose without a thorn. My love is like a red, red rose. The flames made darkness visible. The wind was awake and disturbed the lake.

no one would answer me on language @amistre64 @caitlinnr14 @waterineyes

I can only say that second one is not at all your answer.. :)

ok :?

See, Metaphor and Simile are two terms used for making Comparisons in English Language.. Metaphor is the comparison with no words, "LIKE", "AS", In Metaphor, you will not find these words. But Simile is the comparison with words "LIKE", "AS".. You know why I said: second is surely not the answer?? Because, in Second choice, My Love is compared with Rose, but using the word "LIKE".. My Love is LIKE a red rose, LIKE, AS ---> these are Simile..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, look at your very first choice.. She is a rose without a thorn.. The sentence is comparing "She" with "rose".. But, do you find here any words "LIKE" or :AS", No... So, here comparison is made but without using LIKE or AS words, so this is according to me is Metaphor.. :)

In third and fourth, firstly they are the statements with no comparison in them.. :)
