"Too stupid to understand science? Try religion." What do you think about the quote below: (P.s. I'm a Lutheran and I believe 110% in God. I am a servant of the law, not its master.)

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

The Non-Existence of God? The world and its true structure can only be understood when you rejected God as an explanation for everything. Because with God nothing is explained. Whoever answers a question (by invoking) with “its Gods will” actually doesn’t know the answer. The way to knowledge is lined (paved) with curiosity and science (inquiry); not superstition (faith) and dogma. Science means movement, faith means stagnation, for faith is content with ignorance. @Opcode you can answer too ya know, open forum guys xD

OpenStudy (opcode):

It is a nonsensical quote, used by vastly ignorant or uneducated people (or trolls). The quote is to imply that religious people are dull. The vast beginning of science was from religious people. Science was kick started by religious people in effort to understand God's mind. As well it is important to be educated in your religion, when I left my theism it was because I was ignorant in comprehension and knowledge. Religion requires a discipline of understanding and thinking, just like science. Fun quote: “The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.” “In the history of science, ever since the famous trial of Galileo, it has repeatedly been claimed that scientific truth cannot be reconciled with the religious interpretation of the world. Although I am now convinced that scientific truth is unassailable in its own field, I have never found it possible to dismiss the content of religious thinking as simply part of an outmoded phase in the consciousness of mankind, a part we shall have to give up from now on. Thus in the course of my life I have repeatedly been compelled to ponder on the relationship of these two regions of thought, for I have never been able to doubt the reality of that to which they point.” – Werner Heisenberg (1932 Nobel Prize in Physics for the creation of quantum mechanics receiver.)

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

nice work buddy, i concur

OpenStudy (opcode):

Where did you find the quote, "Too stupid to understand science? Try religion." If I may ask?

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

I saw it on nincompoop's profile pic the other day

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

to be honest i almost sent the guy a msg telling him to take it off

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

i thought it a pertinent title for this heretical quote

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

although i am concerned that people may think such heresy could actually come from my mouth

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

Such is the reason why i wrote the preamble about my steadfast faith

OpenStudy (opcode):

Nincompoop may not be implying that religion is for the lame (or he could, I do not know), however I think it is probably more like him to mean that many religious people decide to let their clergymen or priests think for them, rather than think for themselves. I would not take it too seriously. :-P

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

My thoughts exactly. Thus i said nothing.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

thanks for your input :D

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

From what I've concluded, is that intelligence has no part whatsoever in what you ultimately believe in; no matter how great or meager your intelligence, your faith will not be chosen due to it; not all smart people in the world are Hindu's, just as not all dumb people are Mormons. People who adhere to that intelligence has a DIRECT role in your beliefs, are either ignorant (because they haven't contemplated on the subject), or untruthful and biased.

OpenStudy (zale101):

I agree @JonnyVonny I do not know from where this idea that religious people are unintelligent or detests science came from. Or, people who chose religion are disagreeing with science and cannot bear it. I know many religious people who absolutely adore science. Anyone can appreciate science, not only atheist :)

From 6th to 12th grade I never took a book home and was a D+ student, something happen to switch me off or just to change direction. Whether puberty, change of location, or things that occurred in that transition. But within the family we played cards, pinochle, bridge and board games which chess was one, I watch the end of a soap opera after I got home from school, then the talk shows of the time. This was great training in logic and manipulation, which would later play out in my life, see bio. To partially quote the old testament "when I was a child ..."

OpenStudy (hba):

Science is going to change but Religion is not going to change.

OpenStudy (opcode):

@hba Would that not make religion intolerant of advancement aka progress? You might want to clarify by what you mean.

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Progress always had a direction associated with it, Germany in the 1930's made great progress in their national economy based on militarism, as the US transfers its military research and development to the private sector, after a time, as nuclear reactors for electricity in the 60's, computers in the 70's, internet in the 80's and 90's, and recently space explorations and robotics. Government research and development is done in secret, using academics with top secret or higher clearances with the public rarely knowing what their doing as well as some researchers due to compartmentalization. Frankly one should be a little worried if research doesn't have a moral nature to it guide it's direction, because things will definitely found that humanity only have hints and how there eventually may be used.

OpenStudy (opcode):

@KenLJW I understand that, however it is not just research. Application of why it is being researched is important. Take nuclear energy, energy that could possibly create wonderful productive helpful things to this world was used to create destructive weapons. Human greed will inevitable end us, not just the government or academics.

If you been following the internet news there's a story where they've developed telepathy by converting to digital and back again at the other side of the world with results, generally yes/no. This is not news to me in the I first recognized it being used in 1978, not digital, I personally didn't receive a confirmed message until 8 years ago. General telepathy works best with short message, as common mathematical symbol or tow's, short threads, of scriptures. Distance man be a problem but the original definition of place is an entrance or transfer point, and if you use that in relation to humans skulls a ripple, wave, effect can be created transferring information. This can be important in that people can be duped ad controlled.
