a club is making a banner to advertise it's quilt show. They have asked the members to cut squares 6 inches on a side from calico material. If each of the 15 members brings in 12 patches, how many square feet can they cover?

In total there are 180 patches

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm looking for the square footage

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Each square is 36 sq inches, (6x6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now, if each square is 36 isq inches, we have to multiply this by 180 to see how many sq inches we have in total

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Blu-Girl , where did you think the 180 came from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6480 square feet but im am unsure where did it come from

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are 15 members, and each member will bring 12 pieces, therefore the total pieces of patches are 15 * 12 = 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you get that so far @Blu-Girl ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep.. thank you!
