Last question of my homework, I don't know what to do. Find radius with endpoints (8,5) (10,11) I found mid-point to be (9,8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

PLEASE HELP

hartnn (hartnn):

distance formula

hartnn (hartnn):

Distance between points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is \(\huge d=\sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i got sqrt(40) when I used the distance formula and that said it was the diameter

hartnn (hartnn):

thats will give diameter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know what half of sqrt(40) comes to be

hartnn (hartnn):

radius is half of diameter

hartnn (hartnn):

ok sqrt (40) = sqrt 4 sqrt 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to use a decimal (3.16) and I can't use decimals with webwork so i put in fraction (79/something) and it said it was wrong

hartnn (hartnn):

sqrt 4 = 2 so sqrt 40 = 2 sqrt 10 and radius = half of that = sqrt 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in standard form sqrt(10) would be sqrt(40)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh nvm just 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i see now thank you!!

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
