Identify the location of the x-intercept y=3x^2+x-4 I'm so confused~ ; n;

OpenStudy (adamaero):

coordinates: where does line intercept x?

OpenStudy (ria23):

Uhm... Not sure... That what I need to figure out... :c I set y=0, so I had 3x^2+x-4 But I'm not sure what my factors would be~ The 3 in front of the x'2 is confusing me...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In this case, you would have to set "y" equal to 0 and solve from then on. So 0=3x^2+x-4. by factoring, you get 0=(x+1)(3x-4). By using the zero product property, set x+1 equals to zero and 3x-4 equal to zero. so you got your x values to be -1 and 4/3. put these in ordered pairs and (-1,0) along with (4/3,0) are your intercepts.

OpenStudy (ria23):

;o Thank yhu for explaining that! c:
