CONSTRAINTS HELP! Mr. Weber drives to a landscape supply center to buy sand and gravel. The center has 6 lb of sand and 13 lb of gravel in stock. Mr. Weber needs at least 2 lb of sand. The amount of gravel he will buy will be at least twice the amount of sand he will buy. Mr. Weber buys 7 lb of gravel. How much sand can he buy? Choose all answers that are correct. (Points : 1) A 2 lb B 3 lb C 4 lb D 5 lb E 6 lb

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

Well first can you have negative numbers as answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. The answers listed are the only answers. None are negative.

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

Then two restraints are \[y \ge 0 and x \ge 0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what would the answer be? I assume there are 1+ considering it allows me to check off multiple boxes.

OpenStudy (stefrheart):

Did you get all the constraints?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are the answers B & C? B. 3LB and C. 4LB?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@haileyalexander No it can't be C. Would you like help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need letter answers, sorry for the confusion. This is the last question on my homework and I have trouble with it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I understand, I am just wondering if you want me to help you since I am bit confused at what stefrheart is saying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am a little as well, lol. But yes, I greatly appreciate anybody's help as I desperately need the answer(s).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well let me take a shot at this so given the fact that Mr. Weber has bought 7lbs of gravel, and that he must buy atleast twice the amount of gravel as compared to sand. How much sand should he buy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 to 3 pounds of sand, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup or 1 actually but... why can't he buy 1lb?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No idea, that isn't an answer. So... The answer choices on this question are A & B? I had no idea why 4 lb was one of my choices, lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha it's says in the problem that he must buy atleast 2lbs. And the part of the problem that says: "The center has 6 lb of sand and 13 lb of gravel in stock" means that he cannot buy more than 6 lbs. But that's all extra info, you are correct, the answer is A & B!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Jeez, my fault! Lol, thank you for the help. You broke it down easy enough for me. I appreciate it. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem good luck on your homework.
