Choose an algebraic expression for 5 times the difference of -1 and a number A.) 5(n-(-1)) B.) 5(-1-n) Please explain how you got your answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. It is A, beccause n-(-1) is subtracting -1 from n, the variable always goes first. By doing this you get the difference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the difference is a result of subtracting one number from another number for example the between 6 and 4 would be 6-4 which is equal to 2. so the difference between -1 and a number (the use n to represent a number) would be (-1-n)

if you were to put the variabe first it would be (-n-1)
