ANSWER IN 5 MINUTES FOR MEDAL + FAN ANSWER IN 5 MINUTES FOR MEDAL + FAN Which is an equation in point-slope form for the given point and slope? http://static.k12.com/bank_packages/files/media/mathml_b1ec9e9c64e5ecb1d6213fd3ea91c8e8606e56e2_1.gif @iGreen @StudyGurl14

WAIT JUST IGNORE THE URL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THE EQUATION IS Point (8 , -4) Slope -5/6

OpenStudy (igreen):

Point slope form is \(y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)\) \(y_1\) and \(x_1\) are random values. \(m\) is the slope. \(y\) and \(x\) stay the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm.. okay? @amistre64

OpenStudy (igreen):

Oh, okay you will plug in 8 for \(x_1\) and -4 for \(y_1\)

OpenStudy (igreen):

Then plug in the slope. What do you get? @im.celibate

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your post is "ANSWER IN 5 MINUTES FOR MEDAL" what if it takes more than 5 minutes to tutor you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y - y = -5\6 (x - X)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yes, the slope is correct. \(y - y_1 = -\dfrac{5}{6} (x - x_1)\) Now plug in 8 for \(x_1\) and -4 for \(y_1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! So it would be y - 8 = -5/6 (x - -4) Right? @iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yup. Remember, two negatives equal a positive so at the end you can write (x + 4) instead.

Thank you!

OpenStudy (igreen):

No problem.
