What is the difference between a constant and a coefficient? When can you add or subtract coefficients?

@texaschic101

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A constant is a value that never changes, like 2, it is always worth 2, so it has a constant value. A coefficient is a number that multiplies a variable like 3x, 3 is the coefficient. 5x, 5 is the coefficient. Basically the number in front of the variable. Hope this helps!

Does that cover it pretty well?

OpenStudy (aum):

\[2x^2 - 3x + 8\]The coefficient of \(x^2\) is 2. The coefficient of x is -3. Constant is 8.

@SethK yes thank you
