OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would happen if meiosis would not occur

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No babies

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no sexual reproduction

OpenStudy (thatonegirl_):

there would be way too many chromosomes in each gamete (the cells that are produced from meiosis) because in meiosis the chromosomes are divided and each gamete will get 1 of each chromosome. too many chromosomes can result in many disorders

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True too, much, too little or any damage to chromosomes causes birth defects such as trisomy21, but meiosis is responsible for sex cycle, not chromosome disorders known as mutations

OpenStudy (thatonegirl_):

Meiosis is the process for creating sex cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sex cycle, I said it all in my 1st post

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No gametes sperm, egg, no reproduction

OpenStudy (thatonegirl_):

Chromosomal disorders can occur from issues in the gamete also

OpenStudy (thatonegirl_):

monosomy, trisomy, polyploidy, etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but the question asked, what if no meiosis, meiosis is more appropriate for sex cycle, look it up, chromosome disorders are more a specific topic, in my last post I said you were not totally wrong, but it it more known for sex cycle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it specify a chip or bent in a chromosome, then we would say mutation/disorder in genome

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

N648c788 is correct.......
