Polygon ABCD is defined by the points A(-5, 1), B(-4, 3), C(-2, 7) and D(-1, 2). If the polygon rotates 90° counterclockwise to create polygon A′B′C′D′, what are the coordinates of C′ ?

OpenStudy (kamibug):

(A,B) -> (-B, A)

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Is it multiple choice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is

OpenStudy (kamibug):

What are your options? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. (-2, -7) B. (-7, -2) C. (7, 2) D. (2, -7)

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Take a look at my first comment. :) When you rotate a polygon 90 degrees, you can find the coordinates by using that. The original point for C is (-2, 7). The answer is going to be the opposite of B and A, in that order. So the opposite of 7 is -7 and A stays the same, -2. So that new coordinate should be (-7, -2). Get it? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thankyou! it was correct ;)

OpenStudy (kamibug):

Great! No problem. :)
