How do you identify associations without a scatterplot?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

with best fit determination from regression models maybe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry, but what exactly is a regression model?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, nvm. What would you look at in the regression model? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, im not too familiar with correlation coefficients for something more than a quadratic association.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a regression model is an equation that defines a best fit line/curve and is generally definied as a least squares model.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when the difference between the actual value and predicted value is at a minimum, it is considered to be a best fit model (the errors produced are at a minimum)

Thanks so much for trying to help me. :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome .... all this is mostly theory, or at least what i recall of the theory :) a scatterplot tho is the best way to actually see some sort of association with the data points

In the problem I have, all I have is the regression analysis. There is no scatterplot given and I'm supposed to compare two relationships. Should I take a picture of it, so you could see what I'm trying to get at? I'd really like to know what I'm doing haha.
