OpenStudy (yousir):

If the verb in the independent clause is in the present tense, in which tense should the verb in the indirect quotation be?

OpenStudy (yousir):

instant medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It does not matter what tense the verb is in. If you are directly quoting then it needs to be in the same tense as the original if it is indirect then it has to be in the same tense as the verb in the independant clause.
