An incandescent lamp is operated at 120 V, and the current is 0.5 A. So, the resistance of the lamp is:
Do you know the formula (OHM'S LAW) that relates Voltage, Resistance and Current?
No
Well the question is very evidently on the subject of Ohm's Law V, I & R are the variables - you must find an equation which relates those 3 It will be the FIRST thing in your test or school notes on this subject. Find the equation and write it here - I will help you apply it...
keep going... write the equation in any form - we can re-arrange it as required
U = I*R U voltage I current R resistance hope this will help you
It is much more usual to use V for Voltage. I had hoped the OP might have taken the time to resuearch the formula for herself. You have now been given the formula V=I x R (Voltage = Current times Resistance) In your question you have been given V=120V I = 0.5 A So - put those values into the equation - and see if you can then solve the value of R
